The strainer is absolutely useless for tea leaves. The plastic is brittle as well, and will break eventually.There is no filter as such, so leaves will fall into the glass as you pour.I'm disappointed at Borosil. Even cheap Chinese tea kettles do a better job.

The plastic ring around the neck snapped in the 3rd month of use. Attached snap shows that quality of material is not suitable for high temperature use. After going through comments, this seems to be a common complaint.It was disappointing to see product from a reputed brand like Borosil perform so poorly.

The carafe strainer has a flawed design, that renders the whole idea of this contraption useless.Firstly the strainer has long slits that are not fine. Unless you are adding large tea leaves, all ingredients will spill through. Secondly the strainer does not fit snugly to the cap, so when you pour tea, you will end up with all ingredients falling through. So, the only way to then use it is to have a bowl/saucer on the side, and remove the lid when pouring yourself tea. Very very cumbersome.
